Tom Brady’s Wicked Accent

Wednesday, May 30, 2012 | No Replies

Under Armour is taking a humorous approach to advertising with their new Funny or Die spot featuring spokesman Tom Brady. In the spot, the New England Patriots quarterback walks into an LA Dick’s Sporting Goods and is given a hard time over his “Boston accent”. I think this puts into perspective why Peyton Manning gets most of the pitch gigs but it was fun to see Brady act out as the diva he’s often portrayed to be. Best line: “Matt Damon shame on you!!” Also, GO JETS.

Avengers Cocktails

Friday, May 25, 2012 | No Replies

It’s an extended holiday weekend and the biggest blockbuster movie ever is still #1 at the box office. Which makes this the most timely post in history. Concoted and illustrated by LILY MITCHELL (aka The More-I-Arty … any Sherlock fans out there?) these Avengers-themed cocktails are sure to make you the hit of any Memorial Day celebration. The only question is whether you want to get Hulk Smashed, Thor Hammered or Loki’d first? (And yes, even Agent “Phil” Coulson has his own drink!)

From Love to Bingo

“From Love to Bingo” is a 1-minute film by AlmapBBDO for Getty Images. The film uses 873 photos (that’s a frame rate of 15 images per second). Anyone who has searched for stock photos before won’t be shocked that the agency searched through over 5,000 to get the 873 perfect shots they needed for this quick story of love and life. A more thorough explanation of the process is at the YouTube link!

Avengers’ Day Off

I can’t even begin to convey how badly I want a print of each of these — especially the one of Agent Coulson, coolest member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Drawn by MATT KAUFENBERG, these adorable drawings will hopefully soon be available in his online store and the rest of the series is also on its way. I, for one, can’t wait to see how Cap & the rest of the gang spend their respective days off.

Ode to David Beckham

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 | No Replies

What do you get when you take David Beckham, one of the world’s biggest soccer stars, and put him in front of a wall made out of drums? If you’re filming a commercial for the Samsung Galaxy Note, you end up with David Beckham bouncing soccer balls off of individual drums to play Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”. The product tie-in is a bit weak but the commercial itself is quite fun.

Memorable Logos

Monday, May 7, 2012 | No Replies

Designer Adam Ladd’s 5-year-old daughter Faith became an internet sensation a few months ago when she interpreted corporate logos (video posted below). The video garnered over 1.3 million views and now has a follow-up. Ladd showed his daughter a series of logos she was unfamiliar with. She had 5 seconds to study the logo and then redraw it. As Ladd mentions in the beginning of the video, it’s interesting to see what marks are memorable and which get lost in translation.
