BEST. JOB APPLICATION. EVER.

Friday, September 21, 2012 | No Replies

You may have heard that the Marvel Avengers universe is spinning off into a television show called S.H.I.E.L.D. While the show is still in the planning stages (and was only announced a few weeks ago!) graphic designer ADAM LEVERMORE is already angling for a job on the show in the coolest way possible. Adam created a short video, set in the S.H.I.E.L.D. universe, of himself interviewing for a design job at the organization. Spotlighting some of his past work—which is full of nerd cred—and with a cameo from a Buffy alum, this has to be one of the best job applications ever.

Hey Joss Whedon: HIRE THIS GUY! Hire me too, if you’re handing out jobs!

versus / hearts

Designer and illustrator DAN MATUTINA created the adorable and fun “Versus / Heats” series. Each heart depicts a pair of pop culture enemies whose rivalry, way deep down, might actually be all about love. You can see more images and follow the whole series on the VERSUS / HEARTS TUMBLR.

Share It Maybe

Oh my gosh this is quite possibly the best thing I have ever seen! Cookie Monster (and Sesame Street) spoof Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song “Call Me Maybe” with “Share It Maybe” — an ode to sharing your cookies with your favorite blue puppet. I also like that this video simultaneously spoofs the version Carly, Jimmy Fallon, and the Roots did for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, playing only instruments found in an elementary school music room (watch that HERE). Great job by Cookie Monster the Sesame Street gang!

What’s that? You didn’t think about a Sailor MoonAvengers mash-up? Me neither. But they’re still pretty awesome. Plus I love the illustration technique used. Created by ANN MARCELLINOLINO. Prints available HERE.

Avengers Cocktails

It’s an extended holiday weekend and the biggest blockbuster movie ever is still #1 at the box office. Which makes this the most timely post in history. Concoted and illustrated by LILY MITCHELL (aka The More-I-Arty … any Sherlock fans out there?) these Avengers-themed cocktails are sure to make you the hit of any Memorial Day celebration. The only question is whether you want to get Hulk Smashed, Thor Hammered or Loki’d first? (And yes, even Agent “Phil” Coulson has his own drink!)

Avengers’ Day Off

Thursday, May 24, 2012 | No Replies

I can’t even begin to convey how badly I want a print of each of these — especially the one of Agent Coulson, coolest member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Drawn by MATT KAUFENBERG, these adorable drawings will hopefully soon be available in his online store and the rest of the series is also on its way. I, for one, can’t wait to see how Cap & the rest of the gang spend their respective days off.

Disney’s Star Wars Weekends

From the absolutely hilarious “Brainstorming with Darth Vader” video to the ads below, Disney is really advertising 2012′s STAR WARS WEEKENDS (May 18 through June 10). Ewok piñata anyone?? … No seriously, my birthday is Monday and this would be awesome.

Off Book: Fan Art

The latest installment of the wonderful series OFF BOOK by PBS is an ode to (or explanation of) Fan Art. “Limited only by the imagination of the artist, the fan art world is full of surprises and brilliance.”

Assembling the Avengers

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 | No Replies

“A SUPERHERO IN EVERY AISLE” is the new campaign by WIEDEN + KENNEDY for Target. As a piece of the campaign, the team assembled elements of the main characters from Marvel’s new movie The Avengers (sans Hawkeye & Black Widow) out of every day objects you can find at Target such as Dr. Pepper cans. LOTS of Dr. Pepper cans.

Minimalist Pixar Movie Posters, Take 2

Last month I posted a series of MINIMALIST PIXAR MOVIE POSTERS by Wonchan Lee. These are better. The only one I don’t like is Cars, though I admit I haven’t seen the film since it came out so maybe the traffic cone plays an important role? The following series is by artist ANDREA NGUYEN (AKA PANDREAA) all of them are available as prints through SOCIETY6.
